On 18 May 2025, Sonu Nigam returned with Sau Saal Pehle: Ek Baar Phir Se.., a powerful continuation of his celebrated tribute to Mohammed Rafi. Staged for an audience that had eagerly awaited his comeback after the December edition, the evening was a journey through Rafi Saab’s immortal repertoire. A Tribute to Padma Vibhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan

On 17 January 2025, Haazri returned to Mumbai with its most poignant edition yet, as A. R. Rahman paid a moving tribute to his mentor, Padma Vibhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. Staged at Jio World Garden, the evening carried an air of reverence and celebration, drawing music lovers from across the city. Rahman, accompanied by an ensemble of talented musicians, performed some of his most spiritual and soul-stirring compositions including Khwaja Mere Khwaja, Kun Faya Kun and Maula. Each song was rendered with heartfelt devotion, transforming the concert into an immersive Sufi experience. The night was not just a performance but a heartfelt offering, honouring the legacy of a maestro whose influence continues to shape Indian music.

On 24 December 2024, Sonu Nigam unveiled the first chapter of his grand tribute Sau Saal Pehle, marking the centenary of the legendary Mohammed Rafi. Held at The Grand Theatre, Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai, the evening was a celebration of timeless music and enduring legacy. Supported by a full symphony orchestra, Sonu transported the audience through Rafi Saab’s immortal catalogue—from tender romantic ballads to exuberant classics that defined an era. Every rendition carried the weight of reverence, yet sparkled with Sonu’s own artistry, creating a perfect blend of homage and individuality. The audience, swept by waves of nostalgia and admiration, left with the feeling that they had witnessed history being honoured in the most unforgettable way.

Honouring Excellence in Classical Music

In 2024, Haazri unfolded at Mumbai’s Jio World Garden as a profound celebration of Indian classical tradition. The evening carried both grandeur and intimacy, as audiences gathered to honour the legacy of Padma Vibhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. The highlight of the night was the conferment of the prestigious Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan Award upon tabla virtuoso Ustad Zakir Hussain, recognising his unmatched contribution to music. Interwoven with soulful performances and heartfelt tributes, the event reflected the very essence of Haazri — reverence, remembrance and the passing on of a rich artistic legacy.

Haazri 2023

The Inaugural Homage

Haazri began in 2023 with its inaugural edition at Mumbai’s Shanmukhananda Hall — an evening of remembrance on the second death anniversary of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. The stage brought together icons of Indian music, including Ustad Zakir Hussain, Hariharan and the Ustad’s grandson Faiz Mustafa Khan, in a heartfelt celebration of his towering legacy. The night reached its most moving moment when flute maestro Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia was honoured with the very first Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan Award. This inaugural homage set the tone for Haazri as an annual tradition — a gathering where music is not merely performed, but remembered, revered and renewed for generations to come.

A Dream I Lived Alone

As a fitting tribute, NR Events Management took the opportunity to unveil a commemorative book during Haazri 2023. The book, titled “A Dream I Lived Alone,” authored by Namrata Gupta Khan, offered an intimate glimpse into the life and journey of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. This literary endeavor added a unique layer to the event, providing attendees with a tangible keepsake of the maestro’s legacy. Namrata Gupta Khan’s literary debut, “A Dream I Lived Alone,” is a captivating memoir that unfolds the extraordinary life journey of Padma Vibhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. Published in December 2018, the book stands as a heartfelt tribute from a daughter-in-law to the iconic classical vocalist and Guru par excellence. In debuting with this memoir, Namrata Gupta Khan has not only preserved the legacy of her father-in-law but has also offered readers a literary masterpiece that transcends the realms of a conventional biography.
